Flapjacks Are Back!

Most likely, the home will be once again the place where we will be staying for the next few months. Autumn is coming up, the days already got colder, the leaves start to colour themselves. If it rains, you cuddle yourself up in a blanket with a cup of tea.

What will not happen, is that you will probably get rained on, start to feel cold and seek shelter in a warm and cosy coffee shop with a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. Because being outside will be a rare thing, I suppose. You'll only leave to buy food and then you stick to your home. Make the coffee yourself, order bulks of Oatly (barista edition, of course), and start to bake again. Flapjacks, banana bread, carrot cake, bread and cook yourself through a recipe book. If you have one.

The last time I spent my hours in a coffee shop working on some stuff, was when I was planning the trip to Sicily in August. I was sitting in Love Brownies and since then, no "dining in" coffee happened in London anymore. I went to Sicily, where the coffee culture is different from the one here, and now being back in London, I just stay at home to work, eat and sleep. All we do is "grabbing" a coffee to bring home. I look jealously at the people who actually sit in the coffee shop, with a book in their hands, papers they are writing on or their laptop. It seems so normal.

But maybe this will change again. New restrictions have been ruled out, more countries are being put on a quarantine list and it just makes it harder to meet people. Some of my friends are not even in London anymore. This is also one of the reasons, that spending some hours in a coffee shop has become a rare thing

You can see, optimism is vanishing slightly. What looked like we are on a positive way, starts to be turned down again. More baking at home. Is this my new hobby? As previously mentioned in a post, I am addicted to flapjacks. I still am. When we got back from Sicily, I bought a bunch of bananas to make flapjacks. I forgot them a bit in the corner, but looking at their almost black skin yesterday, I knew I had to bake a tray.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend cannot eat nuts, so I decided to do the chocolate ones. Trying a new recipe. I bought the missing ingredients such as dark chocolate and cacao powder, but it wasn't until I started when I realised that this recipe doesn't contain any bananas. I thought, "let's bake both then". This thought didn't last long, as I ran out of baking paper. How annoying.

I stuck with the plan of the, let the bananas ripe another day and made the chocolate flapjacks. 😋 They turned out to be incredibly delicious! A dream of chocolate! Why didn't I try them earlier?!

My boyfriend also loves them, which is a very good sign. All I need to do now is heading to the shop and buy the baking paper, to buy the other bunch of "healthy" flapjacks. Let's get used to staying at home again.
